Deliveroo Singapore today announced that it has partnered with charity organisations, Ren Ci Hospital, Singapore Children's Society and the Muslimin Trust Fund Association (MTFA) to deliver 4,500 free iftar porridge for the charities' beneficiaries and healthcare workers as part of its Delivering Smiles campaign during Ramadan.                                                                  From 8 to 29 April, over 70 Deliveroo riders will deliver free iftar porridge every Friday to 12 different locations of the participating groups across four weeks. Among the locations are Ren Ci Hospital's nursing homes and the chronic sick unit. Yishun Health will support Singapore Children's Society with the porridge distribution. The porridge will be prepared by Muhammad Shazain Faiha Muslim Food Paradise, which also supported Deliveroo's Heroes to Heroes campaign last year that saw Deliveroo riders delivering iftar meals to migrant workers.                                                                  Ren Ci Hospital and Singapore Children's Society are non-profit organisations that seek to provide aid and support to the less fortunate from various age groups, including children and the elderly. MTFA provides burial services, financial assistance, bursaries, and scholarships for the poor and needy. The organisation also runs two orphanages and a dialysis centre that offers subsidised treatment to patients regardless of race or religion.

Deliveroo's Delivering Smiles campaign paves the way for riders to spread joy to beneficiaries through food and show their appreciation to the healthcare workers representing these organisations, who have continued to display care and dedication to the underprivileged during the pandemic. This initiative is part of Deliveroo's global community-focused campaign, Full Life, which aims to utilise its unique network of riders, restaurants and grocers to support communities in cities where Deliveroo operates.

"Deliveroo Singapore always strives to give back to the community. Our Ramadan initiative last year benefited over 1,600 migrant workers, undoubtedly our nation's unsung heroes. We wanted to build on the success and have increased our goal to deliver 4,500 iftar porridge to benefit more people this year. Our Delivering Smiles campaign will focus on the underprivileged, the sick, and the healthcare workers who have been tirelessly caring for them. With food at the heart of what we do, we are confident that our Deliveroo riders can deliver smiles and spread happiness this Ramadan. Our riders have been showered with compassion by Singaporeans during the pandemic, and we wish to pass our gratitude on and pay it forward," said Jason Parke, Head of Operations, Deliveroo Singapore.

"It is heartening to see Deliveroo and its riders bring festive cheer to the beneficiaries and staff of Ren Ci Hospital, myself included, through the Delivering Smiles campaign. Since most of the team here are frontline workers who have been working hard during the pandemic to care for the residents, we are thankful to organisations such as Deliveroo for their initiative to show their appreciation for the community during the Ramadan period," said Ms Aisya Binte Syed Mhd Bahrin, Senior Medical Social Worker at Ren Ci Hospital.

"Being part of the Delivering Smiles campaign is the perfect opportunity to return the kindness that the community has given me during the pandemic. Food can always brighten up someone's day, and it was heartwarming to see the smiles on the recipients' faces when we delivered the iftar porridge. "This might have been the first time I'm taking part in this initiative, but it is certainly not the last," said Sng Yong Sheng, 49 who participated in the initiative.

Continuing on the spirit of giving during Ramadan, Pezzo, a long-term restaurant partner of the food delivery company, will distribute a total of 250 pieces of masks at selected Pezzo outlets* to Deliveroo riders picking up orders at these outlets on 25 and 26 April.

Deliveroo Singapore's partnership with Ren Ci Hospital, Singapore Children's Society and the MTFA marks the latest in the company's series of community-focused campaigns. Just past Chinese New Year, Deliveroo and charity organisation Food From the Heart (FFTH) collaborated with The Local Farm by Gardenasia to enable Deliveroo customers to feed the less fortunate with local fresh farm produce. Last December, Deliveroo Singapore pledged over 100 hours to deliver essential food packs to more than 100 underprivileged families under FFTH.

Other community-focused campaigns also include a Heroes to Heroes initiative, in partnership with the Migrant Workers' Centre, where Deliveroo riders delivered up to 1,600 iftar meals to five dorms for foreign workers to enjoy during Ramadan, TOUCH Community Services, where Deliveroo gathered customers, restaurants and riders to get behind the Meals-On-Wheels initiative.
