Herby sausages, rye bread, perhaps some apple strudel and –  of course – beer. You just know we're talking German cuisine. If you're after the hearty dishes that are all-out German, look no further – we've rounded up some of the places in Singapore that offer that truly Bavarian experience.

1. Oktoberfest Platter, Ambush

When you think German, more than likely it's sausages and beer that spring to mind. And what celebrates these two things better than Oktoberfest? Ambush take inspiration from this quintessentially German event for their themed platter. You'll find pork knuckle cutlets, smoked bratwurst, sauerkraut, potato puree and bockwurst sausages served up with a fresh salad for an unforgettable taste of Bavaria. You can order an Erdinger on the side too, for an extra slice of authenticity.

Where: Ambush, Bishan

2. Würstelpfanne, Brez'n

Brez'n is the Bavarian word for pretzel – a beloved traditional bread – so you know these guys take their German cooking seriously. They pride themselves on their time-honoured cuisine, claiming to serve 'the tastiest crispy pork knuckle and traditional grilled sausages'. We love their Würstelpfanne for a true taste of the country. This sausage-packed-delight for two bundles in a grilled Thüringer sausage snail, chicken Hauswurst, Regensburger, Weisswurst and sauerkraut, served up with a baked potato topped with sour cream and bacon. Add in a soft baked pretzel and you've got a real treat on your hands.

Where: Brez'n, Orchard

3. Grilled Pork Sausages, Brotzeit German Bier Bar & Restaurant

The guys at Brotzeit bring all the flavours of Bavarian cuisine to you – here you'll find a whole host of meat based dishes, alongside some tasty sides, soups and salads. So, if you're looking for a full-on German feast, this is the place for you. Kick things off with a Spinach Fladen, before moving onto the Grilled Pork Sausages, served up with mashed potato, sauerkraut and – in Brotzeit's own words – best enjoyed with a few pints of beer. Sub in a side of Buttered Spatzle and a Gerolsteiner Apfelschorle to drink, and you're good to go.

Where: Brotzeit German Bier Bar & Restaurant, five locations in Singapore

4. Three Little Pigs, The Garden Slug

If you're channeling your inner German from early on, why not get your fix at breakfast? The Garden Slug offer up dishes from southeast Asia to Italy, and their stop off in Germany is all-out awesome. Not only is it the most popular item on their menu, it's also got five stars in the description. Here you'll find bratwurst met with bacon and ham, hashed with a mushroom cheese melt and potato egg bake. You'll feel the fairytale magic with this one.

Where: The Garden Slug, Telok Kurau
