5 of the most colourful Mexican dishes you’ll find in Singapore

It's not difficult to put your finger on why Mexican cuisine is so delicious. Whether it's the wonderful balance of sweet and spicy flavours, the marvellous array of meats and grills or the colourful fresh vegetables, every mouthful of Mexican is a party in your mouth and a treat on the eyes.

If you're a foodie who places great value on what a dish looks like before you taste it, we hear you. That's why we've put together this list of six of the most colourful Mexican dishes available in Singapore that are guaranteed to be a feast for the eyes before you've even tantalised those taste buds!

1. Sumptuous salad bowls at MexOut, Clarke Quay

A post shared by Mex Out (@mexout) on

Not only are MexOut's salad bowls bright and colourful, they offer an exceptionally well-balanced meal. With rice, beans, lettuce, salsa and a health dollop of guacamole, you're guaranteed to devour every last drop. Who said eating your greens had to be boring?! Better still, there are two MexOuts to experience, near Raffles Place and Marina Bay!

2. Three-piece tacos at Guzman y Gomez, Tanjong Pagar

Those three-piece tacos have to be seen to be believed. Jam-packed with flavoursome beef and vibrant salsa and peppers, Guzman y Gomez is a household favourite for many Singaporeans in Tanjong Pagar. We're also huge fans of their burrito bowls, which basically sees the filling served in a bowl surrounded by the restaurant's original corn chips – ideal if you don't want the carbs of an entire tortilla!

3. Breakfast burritos at Muchachos, Chinatown

At Muchachos, it's never too early in the day for one of their breakfast burritos! They are full to the brim with flavour and goodness and are the perfect pick-me-up brunch snack after a heavy night on the tiles or to prepare you for that all-important afternoon meeting. Muchacho's salsa verde sauce is great with a breakfast burrito as well as traditional Mexican-style burritos and tacos. We're so in love with that sauce that we've tried to make it ourselves!

4. Chipotle grilled jumbo prawns at Muchos, Clarke Quay

Nestled in the heart of vibrant Clarke Quay, with its cluster of bars, restaurants and nightclubs, sits Muchos. Designed in the style of a traditional Mexican cantina, Muchos offers a sumptuous choice of Latin American delights but our clear favourite for colour and taste has to be the juicy jumbo prawns grilled with a smoky chipotle sauce. These appetisers are worth ordering again and again!

5. Fish Baja-style at Senor Taco, Orchard Tower

Offering authentic Mexican street food, Senor Taco is one of our favourite haunts for a quick and colourful eat. The brand came to life in Mexico but has transcended into Singapore and become one of the best places for fresh Mexican tacos in prime locations in Orchard Tower and Clarke Quay. Our must-tries here are the fish tacos made Baja-style, with a crispy battered coating and zesty sauce, we guarantee you'll be thinking about these in your sleep.
